IPEX Global Manufacturing (M) Sdn. Bhd. (Malaysia Johor Bahru Plant) 35th Anniversary PartyHere we introduce the history of our Malaysia Johor Bahru Plant.
IPEX Global Manufacturing (M) Sdn. Bhd. (Malaysia Johor Bahru Plant) : 35 Years of History
In January 1979, I-PEX, which was expending its mold exports, established its first foreign corporation, Singapore Dai-ichi Pte Ltd *1 in Singapore, in response to the growing need for not only export but also local production. After opening two production bases in Singapore, we considered opening a factory in Singapore's neighboring country, Malaysia, in order to further expand our production capacity.
In June 1989, I-PEX established MDI Sdn. Bhd. in Johor, Malaysia for the purpose of manufacturing and assembling precision molds and precision plastic molded products. A factory was purchased and remodeled in the Tampoi area of the same state, and the former Malaysia Johor Bahru Plant was completed in 1991. This was the third overseas production base for the I-PEX Group, following Singapore and the Philippines.
After that, the Singapore Dai-ichi Pte Ltd transferred production of some products to MDI Sdn. Bhd. (former Malaysia Johor Bahru Plant) and PT. Pertama Precision Bintan*2 (Indonesia Bintan Plant), which was established in 2000. By dividing up the work among the three bases, a complementary relationship was built, and the bases in Southeast Asia came together to expand the business.

With an eye on future business expansion, the company has begun construction of a new factory.
In October 2018, the Malaysia Johor Bahru Plant, the largest plant in the I-PEX Group with a floor area of approximately 15,000 m2, was completed. All production, including product manufacturing processes and production lines, were transferred from the old factory, and the production of sensors for automobiles and connectors for electronic devices began.
