IPEX Global Manufacturing (M) Sdn. Bhd. (Malaysia Johor Bahru Plant), I-PEX's Largest Mass Production Plant, Celebrates Its 35th Anniversary

2024年、I-PEXグループ最大規模の量産工場であるIPEX Global Manufacturing (M) Sdn. Bhd.（マレーシア・ジョホールバル工場）が設立35周年を迎えました。

In July 2024, IPEX Global Manufacturing (M) Sdn. Bhd. held a party to celebrate its 35th anniversary, attended by many people including management, stakeholders, and employees. The party began with a speech by Lilian Chung Li Ken, General Manager of the Malaysia Johor Bahru Plant, and included a video showing the history and achievements of the company, an award ceremony for long-term service, and dance and musical performances by employees.

Here we introduce the history of our Malaysia Johor Bahru Plant.

1979年1月、金型輸出の拡大を進めていたI-PEXは、“輸出だけではなく、現地での製品生産を”というニーズの高まりを受け、グループ初の海外法人としてシンガポールにSingapore Dai-ichi Pte. Ltd.^※1（シンガポール工場）を設立しました。シンガポール国内に2つの生産拠点を開設後、生産能力をさらに拡張するため、シンガポールの隣国、マレーシアに工場を開設することを検討しました。

1989年6月、I-PEXはマレーシア・ジョホール州に精密金型と精密プラスチック成形品の製造および組み立てを目的とするMDI Sdn. Bhd.を設立しました。同州タンポイ地区にて工場を購入・改造し、1991年にマレーシア・旧ジョホールバル工場が完成。I-PEXグループ全体としては、シンガポール、フィリピンに次ぐ、3カ国目の海外生産拠点でした。

After that, the Singapore Dai-ichi Pte Ltd transferred production of some products to MDI Sdn. Bhd. (former Malaysia Johor Bahru Plant) and PT. Pertama Precision Bintan^*2 (Indonesia Bintan Plant), which was established in 2000. By dividing up the work among the three bases, a complementary relationship was built, and the bases in Southeast Asia came together to expand the business.

2017年7月、I-PEXは自動車部品事業の生産能力と機能の拡張、そしてコネクタ事業の進展を目的に、マレーシア・ジョホール州ヌサジャヤに現地法人Daiichi Seiko (M) Sdn. Bhd.を設立。将来の事業拡大を見据え、新たな工場の建設工事に着手しました。

2018年10月、建築面積約1万5,000㎡のI-PEXグループ最大規模であるマレーシア・ジョホールバル工場が完成。旧工場から製品の製造プロセスや生産ラインなどすべての生産を移設し、自動車向けセンサや電子機器向けのコネクタの生産を開始しました。

In 2020, the Malaysia Johor Bahru Plant changed its name from Daiichi Seiko (M) Sdn. Bhd. to IPEX Global Manufacturing (M) Sdn. Bhd. ^*3.

設立35年を迎えたマレーシア・ジョホールバル工場は、今後も近隣のシンガポール工場やインドネシア・ビンタン工場と連携しながら、I-PEX最大規模の量産工場として、さらなる技術力・供給能力の強化に取り組みます。
