Here we will introduce the specific business activities, skills and resources of I-PEX (Thailand) Co., Ltd. (Thai Chonburi Plant), one of the I-PEX Group's overseas bases.

Location of I-PEX Thailand

I-PEX Thailand is located in the Amata City Chonburi Industrial Estate, which spreads across the coastal area about 60 km east of Thailand's capital, Bangkok, and is about a 40 minute drive from Suvarnabhumi International Airport and about an hour's drive from Bangkok. This area is home to a wide range of industries, with automobile at the center, and is also increasing its presence as a logistics hub in the rapidly growing Asia.

Amata City Chonburi Industrial Estate is the largest industrial estate in Thailand, with a development area of over 4,000 ha, and is home to approximately 780 companies and approximately 210,000 people. Approximately 60% of these are employees of Japanese companies. The estate also includes a logistics center, education facilities, apartment complexes, and a hospital.

 

Business details and main resources of I-PEX Thailand

I-PEX Thailand was established in 2000 as Thai Dai-ichi Seiko Co., Ltd., and changed its name*1 to I-PEX (Thailand) Co., Ltd. in 2020. Currently, the plant employs approximately 260 people (including Japanese expatriates) and mainly manufactures mechanism components for hard disk drives*2 for data centers and parts for automobile. In addition, the molds required for these precision moldings are also designed, manufactured, and assembled in-house.

The plant is equipped with a high-performance automatic machines that reduces the person required, an inspection room capable of structural analysis using a Fourier Transform Infrared Spectrophotometer (FT-IR)*3, and an inspection system in a Class 100*4 clean room.

    Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FT-IR): By irradiating a sample with infrared light, it is possible to detect minute contamination and perform structural analysis within a product.

Class 100 indicates that there are 100 or less particles of 0.5 um size in the air per 1 foot (about 30 cm) square. A typical office has 1 million particles, and even a forest has about 100,000.

I-PEX (Thailand) Co., Ltd. was established in June 2000 as an overseas production base for I-PEX. Currently, the factory produces molded parts that require precision and high cleanliness, mainly mechanism components for hard disk drives, and has established a high-quality and stable production system by utilizing automatic machines designed in-house and structural analysis in the in-house laboratory using a Fourier Transform Infrared Spectrophotometer (FT-IR). The factory has about 260 employees, but it is an organization with good teamwork that cooperates across departmental boundaries.
