Background of the “Molds and Automation System” Business
I-PEX was founded in 1963 as Dai-ichi Seiko, a precision mold manufacturer, and in around 1980 the company shifted its business to molds manufactured in-house and mass-production of molded products using automated machines. Since then, although we manufactured molds and automated machines in-house, those were never sold to outside parties, except for semiconductor manufacturing equipment and molds.*
In January 2024, the company centralized the production equipment divisions by integrating semiconductor manufacturing equipment businesses with the production equipment divisions belonging to various businesses, such as connectors, automotive components, and precision molded products.
We have decided to focus on “Molds and Automation System” as our new business domain and to commercialize orders and sales of molds and automation systems while we work on integration of production device knowledge, improving the efficiency of the production device division, and improving market competitiveness.
- ﹡1I-PEX developed the world's first fully automated semiconductor molding equipment in 1980 and has continued to accept orders and sell molds and automated machines exclusively for the use of semiconductor manufacturing to this day.
