Remote monitoring and control system for storage batteries using IoT technology is under development, and the brand name of the storage battery system series is RENERATH

Oct. 1, 2024

I-PEX Inc. (Headquarters: Kyoto City, Kyoto Prefecture, Representative Director: Takaharu Tsuchiyama, Tokyo Stock Exchange Prime Market Code: 6640, hereinafter I-PEX) has started the development of a remote monitoring and control system (hereinafter Remote Monitoring and Control System) using IoT technology in the environment and energy solution business, which it announced its entry in February 2024.

At the same time, the brand name of the battery system series, which provides sustainable energy solutions utilizing used lithium-ion batteries (reusable LiB) in electric vehicles, was decided to be RENERATH. RENERATH and the Remote Monitoring and Control System will be exhibited for the first time at The 22nd SMART ENERGY WEEK (Autumn), to be held from October 2, through October 4, 2024.

Sales of RENERATH are scheduled to begin in 2025, and the installation of the Remote Monitoring and Control System on storage battery systems is scheduled in 2026.

Safe and secure storage battery system with IoT technology

I-PEX is currently engaged in the development and sales of battery management systems and storage systems utilizing reusable LiB, being developed in-house. It is often said that storage battery systems may not operate properly due to capacity degradation or equipment failure, although they are useful for power outages and BCP measures in the event of a natural disaster.

In order to solve these problems, I-PEX is developing the Remote Monitoring and Control System that makes effective use of storage batteries and remote monitoring and control possible by using IoT technology. By monitoring the state of the storage battery in real time and performing optimal operation at all times, a reliable and stable power supply is possible even in the event of a disaster. In addition, the company is also envisioning an energy sharing platform using storage battery systems to quickly supply energy to areas where electricity is scarce by utilizing the location information and remaining capacity data of storage batteries as a distributed emergency power source. Via these mechanisms, we aim to realize a sustainable, safe and secure energy supply using storage batteries.

About the storage battery system RENERATH

I-PEX entered the battery storage system business in February 2024. In September 2024, we named the battery system series RENERATH. It is a neologism created from the English prefix re, meaning again, as seen in words like rebirth, regeneration, reuse, and recycle; ene, derived from the word energy; and the word era.

With RENERATH, we will consider participating in projects such as zero-carbon cities and smart cities, and promote the spread of sustainable energy solutions using reusable batteries in order to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050.
