I-PEX Inc. Commits to the Science Based Targets initiative

Aug. 28, 2025

As part of its ongoing sustainability efforts, I-PEX Inc. has joined the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) and submitted its commitment this July to set science-based greenhouse gas emissions reduction targets.

Over the next two years, we will thoroughly review our greenhouse gas (GHG) inventory—the amount of GHG emitted from our business activities—and we will establish new near-term reduction targets for our Scope 1, Scope 2 and Scope 3 emissions in line with the Paris Agreement.

At I-PEX, we believe that protecting the global environment is essential to building a sustainable society. In the I-PEX Vision 2030, our medium- to long-term management strategy launched in 2022, we identified “tackle climate change and contribute to a recycling-based society” as one of our points of materiality. This guides our efforts to enhance responsible manufacturing and promote long-term environmental conservation.

Our commitment to the SBTi marks a significant milestone in I-PEX's sustainability journey. By expanding reduction activities across our entire supply chain, we aim to set new ambitious, measurable and transparent reduction targets.

What is the SBTi (Science Based Targets initiative) ?

Established in 2015, the SBTi is a corporate climate action organization formed through a collaboration of four organizations: the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF), the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP), the World Resources Institute (WRI) and the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC). The SBTi empowers companies and financial institutions to set GHG emissions reduction targets that are consistent with what climate science deems necessary to meet the goals of the Paris Agreement—limiting global warming to 1.5℃ above pre-industrial levels.

Tackling Climate Change: From Materiality Selection to Concrete Action

I-PEX Inc. has set a goal to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050. As part of this long-term goal, our entire Group is working to strengthen green manufacturing and promote a positive cycle where environmental and economic value go hand in hand. Our current initiatives include reducing CO2 emissions through energy saving activities and promoting the switch to renewable energy.

By committing to the SBTi, we are further strengthening our environmental initiatives and advancing a climate strategy in line with the latest international scientific standards. It confirms our goal to make a meaningful contribution to the global fight against climate change.

Looking Ahead: A Mid-Term Roadmap for Supply Chain Engagement

We acknowledge that a significant amount of our emissions come from our supply chain. That’s why we will establish new targets for our Scope 3 by 2027. Along with validating our Scope 3 emissions baseline, we will actively collaborate with our partners to build a more sustainable and responsible supply chain.

As climate challenges intensify, I-PEX is taking action—not just with words, but with a clear roadmap and measurable goals. By joining the SBTi, we are proud to stand with companies around the world that are leading the way with science-based climate actions.
